Board members discussed components that affect the levy and future tax rates, including state supplemental aid estimates, management and debt service levies, and cash reserves. Board member Marty asked whether the district should leave the debt service levy unchanged given the district—s current cash balance. Ellis and other staff explained the figures in the draft and noted the recommended ceiling amount is intended for the taxpayer statement; the board can adjust final levies before certification.
On a motion to "determine the levy at 13.95318," seconded by another board member, the motion carried on a voice vote. The board also voted to schedule the statutory budget hearing for April 7 at 6:30 p.m. as a standalone meeting before the regular session.
The board approved the consent agenda, including minutes, early graduation requests and routine personnel and financial items, by unanimous voice vote.
Board president and staff said the levy ceiling will appear on the taxpayer statement and that the board will revisit the detailed debt-service rationale and levy breakdown before certifying final rates at the April meeting.
