Wilson County approves revision to HCCBG county funding plan to reflect department needs

The Board of Commissioners voted to approve a revision to the county's HCCBG funding plan, updating allocations for the Department of Social Services, Meals on Wheels, the senior center and corrections programs and preparing the package for regional submission.
Deputy County Manager Lori Winston asked the board to approve revisions to the county's HCCBG (Home and Community Care Block Grant) funding plan at the March 3 meeting. Winston told commissioners the revision consolidates four separate topics: updates to the DSS plan, Meals on Wheels, the senior center and corrections-related services.
County staff explained the revisions would be submitted to the Upper Coastal (regional entity) for approval, explaining that multiple revisions can be submitted across the fiscal year as needs change. Winston said it is common to see more than one revision before funds are distributed; she said commissioners may see another revision when the region distributes funds in May.
A commissioner moved and seconded approval; the board voted in favor with no recorded opposition. Staff said the submission to the region is required to secure the HCCBG allocations and that the revisions are intended to reflect current service needs across the county.
