Coffey County appoints Chad Hazen to tourism and visitors board to fill unexpired term

He said he has lived in Coffee County most of his life, graduated from Leroy High School and works at a local power plant. Hazen told commissioners he seeks the position to help promote local cultural assets, outdoor recreation and businesses that could benefit from tourism.
Commissioners asked basic qualifying questions about length of term and board composition. Staff clarified the term length is two years and that the tourism board includes representatives from the Chamber of Commerce and economic development, plus two at-large members. Commissioner McCurry moved to appoint Hazen; Commissioner Peterson seconded the motion. The board voted by voice; the motion passed.
