Encinitas arts commissioners elect chair and vice chair, approve minutes and meeting schedule

At the start of its March meeting the Encinitas Commission for the Arts approved minutes from the previous meeting, elected leadership for the coming year and approved meeting dates for the 2025–26 cycle.
During roll call the record noted all commissioners were present. Commissioners moved and seconded approval of the prior meeting minutes; Chair Fox called the vote and the motion passed with all commissioners voting yes. For leadership, commissioners nominated and approved Chair Fox to continue as chair and nominated and approved Commissioner Jennifer Morakovic to continue as vice chair; both nominations were uncontested and both nominees accepted.
The commission also considered proposed meeting dates for fiscal years 2025 and 2026. Commissioners discussed that the first Monday in September falls on Labor Day and that staff would check room availability if the commission wished to move the September meeting to Tuesday, Sept. 2; one commissioner noted a personal scheduling conflict but commissioners agreed by consensus to proceed and then formally voted to approve the proposed meeting dates for 2025 and 2026. The motion to approve meeting dates passed unanimously. The commission later voted to extend the meeting by 30 minutes to 7:30 p.m.; that extension motion also passed unanimously.
