Council approves right-of-way acquisitions for Creekside Business Park improvements
Summary
Council authorized a public improvement project and the acquisition of fee and easement interests from two properties to rebuild West Ridge Avenue and add roundabouts and utilities serving the Creekside Business Park.
Cedar Falls City Council approved a resolution March 3 authorizing a public improvement project for the Creekside Business Park and authorizing acquisition of private property interests needed for the work.
City planner/engineer Tom Bitter told the council the project will rebuild West Ridge Avenue, install two dual-lane roundabouts at Cyberlane and the future Waterway Avenue intersection, reconstruct the existing roadway, and add upgraded storm sewer, water main, enhanced crosswalks, trails and sidewalk. Plans identify the need for fee-title or permanent easement acquisitions from one property and temporary construction easements from an additional parcel.
Bitter said the city expects to obtain the necessary fee and easement acquisitions from approximately two properties on the northern side of the project corridor and that staff would answer questions as the design and right-of-way process continue. No members of the public spoke during the hearing.
The council voted to approve the resolution on a roll-call vote and staff said they will proceed to right-of-way offers and easement negotiations consistent with council authorization and applicable acquisition rules.
