Staff said the current poet laureate’s term is two years and that the first renewal decision is due before the incumbent’s term expires on Sept. 30, 2025. The ad hoc’s charge is to review the poet laureate’s first-year work and advise the full commission whether to recommend renewal.
Motion and result: Commissioner Delafos moved to appoint Commissioners Molina and Grant to the poet laureate review ad hoc; Commissioner Spiller seconded. The motion passed by voice vote.
Next steps: the ad hoc will meet and prepare a recommendation for the full commission.
