The Overland Park City Council on March 3 approved several consent and regular-agenda items with little additional debate, including two resolutions that close out earlier economic-development deals for the Galleria 115 project, an appointment to the Downtown Business Improvement District advisory board, and the Planning Commission consent agenda.
Economic-development staff member Sarah Stallings (last name from transcript 'Stallings') told the council that resolutions No. 5030 and No. 5031 merely unwind and release property previously financed with economic development revenue bonds for sales-tax exemption purposes in two separate areas of the Galleria 115 project. Staff recommended approval of both resolutions; the council adopted each resolution separately on unanimous roll calls.
Council also approved an appointment to the Downtown Business Improvement District Advisory Board on a motion from Councilmember Holly Grummert; the motion carried unanimously. Later in the meeting the Planning Commission consent agenda was approved unanimously as well.
No amendments, substantive debate or requests for additional staff work were recorded for these items at the meeting. Councilmembers thanked staff for the explanations and moved on to other agenda items.
Also noted in council reports: Council President Holly Grummert briefly reviewed the Mid-America Regional Council presentation members had received about the region’s federal grants and pass-through funds; that item was a report only and did not require council action.
