City staff reports recent annexations, zoning approvals and a withdrawn application; special P&Z review set for March

City of Anna Development Services reported council approvals of several annexations and zoning requests, a withdrawal of a pending application and scheduled a special Planning & Zoning meeting to review the draft comprehensive plan and proposed smoking-ordinance language.
Stephanie Scott Sims, Director of Development Services for the City of Anna, told the Planning and Zoning Commission on Jan. 6 that the City Council approved multiple annexations and zoning actions and that a pending application was withdrawn.
Sims said, “After that meeting, we held the regular council meeting where council approved the annexation and zoning for the public storage facility over, off of Buddy Hayes and Rosamond Parkway. They also approved the annexation and zoning for the Shirley Farms development, and they approved an SUP for a light auto repair over in the Victoria Falls shopping center.” She added that the Jefferson Foster Crossing application was withdrawn and “was supposed to go to council this month, and they are withdrawing their application completely.”
The update covered recent council actions that affect developments within the city and its extraterritorial jurisdiction (ETJ). Sims also reminded commissioners of two upcoming meetings: a special Planning & Zoning meeting on March 18 to review the draft comprehensive plan update and provide a recommendation to council, and the regular Planning & Zoning meeting on April 7.
Sims said the March 18 agenda will also include review of council-requested amendments related to smoking-retail businesses, including CBD stores, smoke shops and vape shops. The director characterized the March meeting as an opportunity for commissioners to provide a formal recommendation to the City Council on the comprehensive plan update.
The statements were delivered as informational updates during the commission's meeting; no formal action on these items was taken by the commission at the Jan. 6 meeting.
