Collin County Commissioners on Tuesday approved awards for seven grounds-maintenance equipment line items after county staff conducted a blind drawing to break tied bid scores.
The drawing was required after scoring produced ties for seven line items in the bid for 2025 grounds-maintenance equipment. Michelle Chernoski, the county purchasing agent, told the court the blind drawing followed the method prescribed by the county judge and the county’s procurement procedures. ‘‘A bid process was conducted for 20 20 five-twenty 4 grounds maintenance equipment, which 7 of the line items resulted in a tie,’’ Chernoski said.
The court announced the drawing results on the record. Line item winners recorded in the session were: line item 1 (ECHO cultivator) — Richardson Saw and Lawn Mower Company; line item 2 (STIHL FC 111 edger) — Prindle Inc.; line item 4 (STIHL BR 430 backpack blower) — Richardson Saw and Lawn Mower Company; line item 8 (STIHL BG 86 blower) — Prindle Inc.; line item 9 (STIHL string trimmer) — Prindle Inc.; line item 10 (STIHL HT 135 pole pruner) — Richardson Saw and Lawn Mower Company; and line item 12 (Skagg 61-inch mower model SWZT61H22FSE) — Richardson Saw and Lawn Mower Company.
After the drawing, the presiding officer moved to approve the awards as drawn; a second was recorded and the court voted 5-0 to carry the motion.
The awards were handled as pulled items from the consent agenda; the rest of the consent agenda had been approved earlier in the meeting by the court.
The minutes do not record bid prices or contract amounts for the individual line items; those details were not specified during the public reading of the drawing.
