Meadowfest founder seeks partners and funds after successful first festival to support mental-health nonprofits

He said the event raised about $40,000 via a GoFundMe drive and an additional $40,000 at the event; in 2024 he distributed $20,000 each to the SIMS Foundation and Out Youth Austin. Goodman said he is forming a nonprofit (the Meadow E. Goodman Foundation) to serve as the event’s fiscal sponsor and is seeking sponsors, volunteers, in-kind donations for auctions/raffles and help publicizing the 2025 event set for Aug. 23, 2025 at the Far Out Lounge.

He emphasized prioritizing local organizations closely aligned with Meadow’s identity and needs and said beneficiary selection will be part of a grant recommendation process run by the foundation.

City staff said Meadowfest organizers may be eligible to compete for cultural arts grants when they complete IRS nonprofit status; staff also suggested approaching council offices and local philanthropic contacts for support.
