FLVS plans nine annual reports and forms for consent at Sept. 30 meeting, including school improvement plans and foundation board appointments

At the workshop, staff outlined nine annual reports and forms they plan to present for board consent at the Sept. 30 meeting.
Chief Executive Officer Louis Algaze described the school improvement plans for FLVS full-time schools (elementary, middle and high school) as "living documents" that identify goals, action steps and data-driven instructional measures intended to increase student achievement. Algaze said each school's advisory council will assist finalization and the plans will be submitted to the Florida Department of Education.
Algaze said the student progression plan for 2025–26 will be updated to ensure compliance with FLVS policy and FDOE rules and that a summary of changes is attached as Exhibit B. He said the 2025–26 uniform assessment calendar for K–12 will be completed on the FDOE template and "must be published in the FLVS full time website and also in the FLVS student handbook," with a link provided to the Florida Department of Education by Oct. 1.
Staff also flagged the 2026–27 FLVS employee calendar and the 2026–27 K–12 school calendar to ensure compliance with statutory instructional-time requirements. The 2025–26 professional learning catalog, a quarterly staff data report for Q1 and a disposal-of-assets item were also listed. On disposal of assets, staff said the facilities department determined that listed assets are fully depreciated or noncapitalized and are unfit for use or excess; those items may be sold, donated to another district or otherwise disposed of consistent with Florida statute, with any proceeds accounted for in the general fund.
The board will also be asked to approve two appointments to the FLVS Foundation board of directors: Jeffrey Gallo and Sofia Borden. Algaze said the foundation, a not-for-profit corporation, is governed by its own board and that FLVS board policy requires trustee approval of foundation-board nominees.
