Bellevue School Board appoints administrative representatives to disciplinary appeals council

The Bellevue School District board approved administrative and community representative appointments to the disciplinary appeals council for the 2025–26 school year in a unanimous voice vote.
The Bellevue School District Board of Directors unanimously approved administrative and community representative appointments to the district’s Disciplinary Appeals Council for the 2025–26 school year on Sept. 18.
The appointments complete the annual roster the board makes under school board policy 3241 (Student Behavior: Corrective Actions and/or Interventions), which delegates hearing authority for some student discipline appeals to the council, a citizen committee that hears cases on the board’s behalf. The administration recommended specific administrative and alternate representatives and a community-engagement representative and alternates to serve on the council.
Under the motion approved by the board, the district will designate Keith Altenoff, assistant principal at Odle Middle School, as the secondary administrative representative to the Disciplinary Appeals Council. Alternates named in the motion were Harland Warrior, assistant principal at Newport High School, and Kelly Baltzer, assistant principal at Tyee Educational Complex. Ricardo Macias, director of the Welcome Center and Community Outreach, was named as the district’s community-engagement representative, with Kelly Taylor, director of schools and early learning, and Melanie McGee, program director, named as alternates.
Board members made the motion and seconded it during the regular meeting; the board approved the recommended appointments by voice vote with no recorded oppositions.
The Disciplinary Appeals Council hears appeals delegated by the board; the board will later appoint a board representative and a parent representative to the council at the December meeting, as noted during the meeting.
The motion followed the administration’s presentation of the annual DAC appointment slate. No amendments or additional conditions were recorded during the floor discussion prior to the vote. The board chair declared the motion approved after members responded “aye.”
The appointments will take effect for the 2025–26 school year and the board packet lists the recommended staff roles and alternates as described. The administration said the appointments follow the process required by board policy and are made on an annual basis.
