Titus County amends budget to fund sheriff software, repairs and legal services

The Titus County Commissioners’ Court unanimously approved budget amendments at its Sept. 8 meeting to cover several immediate expenses and to reallocate contingency funds into the current fiscal year.
County staff presented one omnibus amendment (2025‑19) that moved $50,000 from contingency to pay for sheriff software implementation in the current year budget; officials said the shift will reduce the amount available when preparing the 2026 budget. The court also increased the budget for the county waste station scale repair by $3,000, added $3,000 to cover appointed attorneys whose costs are trending higher, and added $500 for translation services to carry the county through September.
Commissioner Parchman moved approval of the budget amendments and Commissioner Mitchell seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
County staff noted that the additional amounts reflect actual costs already incurred or expected near term; the motion record does not include contract details for the software purchase beyond the $50,000 reallocation.
