Marching Tigers win early competition; boosters ask board to improve access and parking around Joe's Field

Marching-band parents and boosters told the board the season opened strongly: Scott Miller, speaking as a marching-band parent, and Mike Barathe, president of the Marching Band Boosters (also referred to as arts boosters), thanked district staff for supporting the program, reported that the Marching Tigers won their first competition and that the home show hosted nine bands and roughly 750 to 800 students from visiting ensembles.

Boosters asked the board to add a secondary gate near the baseball field to provide better truck and equipment access to Joe's Field and to improve a spectator/parking path behind Kennedy School that some visitors described as uneven and subject to runoff. Scott Miller said some spectator parking routed toward Kennedy School was "not exactly graded and presentable for walking" and recommended the board look into surface improvements; boosters said the added gate would prevent equipment trips through mud and gravel and would make future shows easier to host.
