District reports HIV/harassment self-assessment scores and 2025 graduation-pathway outcomes

The anti-bullying self-assessment uses a maximum score of 78. Staff presented final scores by school: the high school 76, middle school 74, Grant School 77, Franklin School 76, Kennedy School 72, Bradley School 73, Roosevelt School 77, Riley Pre-K Annex 77, and Roosevelt Pre-K Annex 77. The presenter said the scores are compiled by the district's anti-bullying specialist in partnership with school principals and are submitted to the state.
On graduation pathways, staff said the district had 289 students in the 2025 graduating cohort. For English language arts, 264 students met the first pathway and 25 met the second pathway. For mathematics, 188 students met the first pathway, 77 met the second pathway, and 24 met the third pathway (described by staff as a portfolio appeal). Staff also reported that two students were denied graduation due to insufficient credits.
Administrators said retakes of the New Jersey graduation proficiency assessment would be offered the week of Oct. 6 for seniors who were unsuccessful last year, and that grades 4 through 10 will take an English Language Arts field test in the fall under a new adaptive state assessment. Students in grades 4 through 9 will take a math field test and there will be field tests for Algebra I, Geometry and Algebra II.
Why it matters: The self-assessment scores and graduation-pathway breakdowns provide parents and the board with district-level measures of school climate and student outcomes. The state's change to an adaptive field test will affect students in multiple grades this fall and is mandatory, according to staff.
