Commissioners approve short-term use of county parking lot for estate auction with insurance requirement

Jennings County commissioners unanimously approved a request from auctioneer Tony Monday to use county parking at 60 East State Highway 3 for an estate sale, contingent on insurance naming the county as a secondary insured party.
Tony Monday, who said he is contracted by Joseph Rosenbaum of Texas to sell items from the estate of Tony Rosenbaum, asked to use the county lot for setup starting Thursday, Sept. 18, through removal after the sale on Sept. 20. Monday said he would sell personal property on tables at the commercial building and would not conduct the sale across the highway at the home.
Commissioners discussed parking logistics and asked that the county be named as a secondary insured for the two-to-three day event. The board required a paper certificate from the insurer naming the county and directed the applicant to file it with the auditor's office. A motion to approve the request passed unanimously. No special fees or rental charges were recorded in the transcript.
Auctioneer Monday noted he carries liability insurance for on-site auctions and said he would maintain the lot entrance on the south side to remain open.
