The Mankato Public School District board named CliftonLarsonAllen as the district's auditor for fiscal year 2024'025 with a base fee not to exceed $49,250, and separately approved maintaining current student activity and admission fees for the 2025'026 school year.
Business services staff explained the recommended auditor appointment responds to an expected increase in audit work tied to new reporting requirements for compensated absences; the proposed fee represents about a 4 percent increase over last year and staff said that increase was expected. A board member asked about the district's RFP cycle for auditing services; staff said they generally issue an RFP every five years.
On student fees, staff recommended no change to activity fees and admission charges for 2025'026. The board discussed family maximums and confirmed that, for families with children in both middle and high school activities, charges would combine and the higher high-school family maximum would apply. Board members emphasized district sensitivity to financial need and noted processes exist to waive or reduce fees where necessary.
Both actions were approved by the board: the auditor appointment passed by roll-call vote with all members recorded as yes; the student-fees item passed by voice vote with no recorded opposition.
