School board approves one full-time special education teacher and 0.5 FTE Indian education position for 2025–26

Dr. Damer introduced the staffing requests and explained the special education position responds to increased enrollment and support needs in the district’s DCD program at Reinerton Elementary. The 0.5 FTE Indian education role reflects an existing liaison workload that has been covered through overloads; administration plans to combine teaching duties with the liaison responsibilities.
Board member Melissa moved to approve the positions and the motion passed by voice vote. During discussion board members sought clarification about the Indian education label; Damer said the district plans to align the job title with state terminology (Native American education) in the future but the current program name in district materials remains “Indian education.”
