County staff described Tahir (Tahir Food Service) as the existing food-service provider in the detention center and highlighted prior programming such as guest chefs and “Tahir University” culinary workforce efforts. Staff said they expect Tahir to introduce fresher options and to continue workforce programming.
Commissioner McMurtry and others also raised a broader question about contract provisions for unforeseen circumstances such as a pandemic, noting that many county contracts include standard termination and force‑majeure clauses. County legal staff offered to follow up on contract terms with commissioners.
After discussion, commissioners voted by roll call to approve the micro‑market agreement; all present voted aye.
