Ramsey County adopts measures for performance reporting; commissioners press for disaggregated birth‑weight data

The Ramsey County Board of Commissioners voted to adopt the county’s participation in the Minnesota Council on Local Results and Innovation performance measurement program on June 24.
Commissioner Jevin Singh asked whether the measure on low birth weight was available in disaggregated form to identify groups with higher rates. Larry Timmerman, planning manager for policy and planning, said the county’s community indicators include disaggregated data by race and ethnicity and that the report will be updated on the county website in July with data through 2023. He added that the state auditor’s required submission does not require disaggregation.
Commissioner McMurtry asked about the set of measures tracked statewide; Timmerman said the county recently added a measure for fatal accidents and that most counties report on 10 measures. Commissioners voted by roll call to approve the program.
The county staff committed to make disaggregated indicators available on the public community indicators portal and to provide updated data later in July.
