District staff report preliminary federal allocations: Title I reduced, Title II cut, Title IV extended

District staff provided the board with a preliminary summary of federal program allocations on July 22, reporting a cut to the district's Title I allocation and changes to other entitlements that could affect program budgets.
A district staff member identified as Miss Thomas told the board the initial Title I estimate was about $4.2 million but that a cut of roughly $390,000 reduced the figure in preliminary materials. "We were getting $4,200,000, so they cut it, dollars 190,000," she said (presentation materials indicate a $390,000 reduction in the packet). She said the district did not cut positions and that the administration trimmed supplies to avoid personnel reductions.
Miss Thomas reported that Title II funding was eliminated in the current preliminary allocations and that Title IV, Part A was included as a no-cost extension; the staff member explained the district could extend Title IV funds "until the money runs out" under the grant terms. She said Title III was not allocated and that Title IX (homeless assistance) and other entitlements were being finalized daily.
Board members asked clarifying questions about the Title I reduction and the potential staffing impact; Miss Thomas said she had adjusted discretionary supply budgets to preserve staffing.
No formal board action was taken; staff flagged that federal allocations remain subject to change and said they would update the board as final notices arrive.
