Board approves multiple facilities projects, consult extensions and contract renewals

The Bay County School Board approved several facilities and contract items on July 8, moving forward construction and maintenance work across the district.
Moe Middle School GMP: The board approved a guaranteed maximum price (GMP) for construction of a safe room and cafeteria at Moe Middle School. Staff said the GMP is $13,000,007.66 (including allowances) and that funding sources include local capital improvement loan proceeds, capital value debt service and FEMA reimbursement of $6,760,000 once work is complete. Board members asked about sidewalk and paving allowances; staff confirmed sidewalks will be installed as regular sidewalks and asphalt lifts will be used on bus areas.
Integrity Group extension: The board approved an extension of the professional consulting-services task order with Integrity Group to continue FEMA consulting work and insurance-allocation processes. District staff said Integrity Group has been a consultant for about two years to support FEMA-funded projects and insurance coordination.
Lawn-maintenance contract: The board approved a final option year extension for two lawn-maintenance contractors (Focus Lawn and Landscape and NNC Lawn Service). Each vendor requested the contractually allowed 4% cost-of-living increase; staff said the increase was within the contract terms and that the district will rebid contracts next year.
Rosenwald Building 11 design: The board approved architectural fees for design and renovation of Building 11 at Rosenwald High School to convert the space into five classrooms. The authorization was for $96,012.70 and staff said the project will include mechanical and lighting updates.
Moseley gym sound and lighting: The board approved improvements to lighting and the sound system in Moseley High School’s gymnasium; staff said the school will contribute the majority of project funding and the upgrade will support events such as recognitions, assemblies and athletic events.
Google Workspace renewal: The board approved the district’s annual Google Workspace renewal for the second year of a three-year contract at $84,006.40 to cover email, Drive storage and Google services.
