Board approves reclassification of Rosenwald administrators and deputy superintendent titles

The Bay County School Board on July 8 approved reclassifications that bring Rosenwald High School administrators and certain executive director positions into parity with high-school and deputy-superintendent pay bands.
Board members discussed whether reclassification required external posting when a job title or pay band changed. Holly, a district HR representative, told the board these were revisions to existing job descriptions where incumbents already occupied the seats; the reclassifications did not add new positions to the district’s approved headcount.
Holly and other staff explained Rosenwald’s pay band had been previously set at a middle-school level when the school’s student population was smaller. With program changes and the addition of New Horizons Learning Center, the district plans to pay Rosenwald administrators at the highest level used by similar combined K–12 schools (the high-school administrator pay band). "All of our combination schools have always been paid at the highest level because of the extra duties and all required," a staff presenter said.
Board members asked for clarity about duties and after-hours responsibilities that justify the higher pay. Staff noted Rosenwald is moving toward a K–12 model with additional evening activities and anticipated athletics, and said duties and responsibilities will align with the higher pay band.
Motion to approve the reclassifications was offered by Moore and seconded by Chester; the roll call vote recorded the five board members voting yes.
