Commissioners discuss County land swap, City Hall Circle and future use of municipal sites

Hollywood commissioners spent more than an hour on ideas for reconfiguring multiple city-owned sites in downtown Hollywood, including a possible land swap with Broward County, moving some municipal functions to the City Hall Circle block and options for the current county courthouse site.

The commission did not adopt any ordinance or binding agreement during the meeting but directed staff to continue discussions with the county and to return with a concept by October 2025. Commissioners discussed a proposed land swap framework described in staff presentations as trading about eight acres of city-owned land for roughly four acres owned by the county. Commissioners repeatedly said they expect any swap to include a sizable financial component to compensate for the acreage difference.
