The Homestead Community Redevelopment Agency voted Wednesday to award a $250,000 contract to RCS Construction & Remodeling for construction of a new surface parking lot at the Chrome Marketplace site.
Staff told the board the parking-lot work is phase two of the Chrome Marketplace redevelopment and that utility undergrounding is already underway. Bids for the project exceeded the original budget allocation, so the agency approved a budget adjustment to draw additional funds from the overall Chrome Marketplace allocation and move forward with contracting and construction.
The board unanimously approved the contract award on a roll call vote after a motion moved by board member Avila and seconded by board member Bailey. No public testimony was received on the item.
Why this matters: The parking lot is part of a multi-phase redevelopment intended to improve access and support retail activity at the Chrome Marketplace site; staff described the action as necessary to prevent further delay while undergrounding and other site work continue.
