Commission on Ethics approves consent order for Nye County Commissioner Ron Boskovich

The Nevada Commission on Ethics voted unanimously at its meeting in Reno on April 10, 2025, to accept a stipulated consent order resolving ethics complaint 24-130 against Nye County Commissioner Ron Boskovich.

The complaint, filed Aug. 26, 2024, alleged violations of the state ethics law related to Boskovich’s use of his position involving two relatives who were employees of Nye County. Executive Director Ross Armstrong told the commission the parties agreed to a willful violation of the disclosure requirement, NRS 281A.420(1), with a one-year compliance period after which the willful finding may be reduced to non-willful if Boskovich demonstrates ongoing compliance.

Armstrong said the commission accepted jurisdiction, investigated, and negotiated an early settlement after Boskovich waived a review panel. He described the agreement as distinct from a deferred-dismissal arrangement: "This is a consent order...an initial willful violation, and then if there's proof of continued compliance to reduce that to a non willful." Armstrong also said staff observed Boskovich subsequently making appropriate disclosures at Nye County Commission meetings.

Rebecca Breuer, counsel for Boskovich, thanked Armstrong and said the commissioner "truly wanted to be in compliance" and would seek guidance to avoid future problems. The agreement requires Boskovich to request an advisory opinion from the commission for clarity about how to handle future matters involving his relatives and to complete ethics training through Nevada Ethics Online.

Under the terms described in the record, the commission directed counsel to finalize the stipulation in legal form; a motion to accept the terms passed unanimously.

The consent order records a one-year compliance period and the possibility of downgrading the finding to non-willful after successful monitoring. No civil fine or additional penalty was stated in the commission presentation.
