Residents ask Ormond Beach commission for studies and public meetings over airport mulching, runway and aircraft noise

"Plants create oxygen and absorb greenhouse gases which will be mulched over with these trees," Blue said, and she asked whether a full FAR Part 150 noise study had been completed since 2005 and whether one would be done after the mulching.
Other speakers raised operational concerns at the airport. Arthur Armstrong and other residents said they are experiencing frequent overflights, higher noise and worries about larger aircraft, training operations and potential runway extension proposals. Several speakers asked for town‑hall style meetings with staff and for clearer public updates.
Planning and airport staff told the commission they would follow up. In response to questions during public comment, staff agreed to provide a written reply and to coordinate a public town‑hall style forum if residents request one. Commissioner and staff remarks noted the airport plan, runway extension discussions and business plan had been discussed at prior meetings; staff said public questions would be answered directly by email after the meeting.
