Loreta Humble (who also used the name Tweedy) of Lake Cavanaugh addressed the Skagit County Board of Commissioners on July 22, urging expedited restoration of Northshore Road and warning that the suggested alternate route via Deer Creek Road is unsafe and unsuitable for residents.
Humble told commissioners that Deer Creek Road is a narrow gravel logging road with steep switchbacks and regular logging traffic, and that it is not plowed in winter. She said residents have experienced times with no usable egress when trees or water obstruct the route and expressed concern about encountering heavy trucks on that roadway.
Humble asked commissioners Janicki and Wiesen to experience the drive firsthand if they had not, saying the difference between a line on a map and the actual driving conditions is substantial. Her remarks requested expedited repair or reopening of Northshore to restore dependable access for Lake Cavanaugh residents.
No formal board action on the road condition was recorded in the meeting transcript; the comment was entered into the public record for commissioners’ consideration.
