Local church group asks Eureka for permission to clean city cemetery Sept. 6

The writer, identified in the letter as Jillian Moore, said she is contacting the city on behalf of Payson Temple Rim Ward and that she had spoken with Patricia at the city office about the request. "We would love the opportunity to volunteer and assist with a general cleanup of the cemetery grounds on Saturday, September 6, from 8AM to noon, if the city would permit it," the letter said.
City members acknowledged the request during the public-comment portion of the meeting and thanked Moore for the offer. Staff did not record a formal decision on the request during the work session; council members indicated the request would be handled administratively through the city office.
Ending: Staff will follow up administratively to confirm any required permits, insurance or city approval and to place the event on the calendar if the city gives permission.
