The Public Safety Standing Committee approved its minutes from the June 24, 2025 meeting and voted to forward several advisory board vacancy recommendations to the full Richmond City Council.
Pamela Nichols, council management analyst, summarized current and projected vacancies through November, including one vacancy for a towing and recovery operator on the advisory board for assessment of towing fees and vehicle storage (application from Tabitha Sheeran), vacancies on the Community Criminal Justice Board (one public defender slot and three at‑large slots; reappointment applications from Tracy Painter and David Smith), and five vacancies on the Richmond Ambulance Authority for which reappointment applications were received for all five seats.
Committee action - The committee approved the minutes from the Public Safety Standing Committee meeting of 06/24/2025 as presented. - The committee voted to forward the vacancy recommendations to the full council. The roll call as recorded in the meeting log shows Miss Abubaca and Chair Trammell voting "Aye." The motion carried.
Nichols noted that most citizen vacancies require residency or a principal place of employment in the city and that the city clerk’s office provides quarterly vacancy reports. Committee members encouraged outreach to council districts to recruit applicants.
Ending The committee took no final appointment actions and instead forwarded the nominations and vacancy report to the full council for consideration.
