Manaway council raises safety, logistics concerns as organizer seeks reservoir permit for race

An organizer asked the Manaway Town Council on July 17 to approve use of the reservoir area for a closed-loop running event and was told to coordinate details with Brigham City and return with proposed dates.
Council members said they had no major objections to the concept but pressed the organizer on safety and logistics, including first-aid coverage, restroom access and parking. Council members noted Brigham City owns the parking lots adjacent to the reservoir and said Brigham may require a fee to reserve space.
The event organizer said the course would be a closed loop and that aid and medical coverage would be located at the official start and finish areas. Council members expressed concern that emergency aid would be limited to those locations and asked that the organizer add portable toilets (“honey pots”) or other staged restroom facilities along the route.
Council members also asked the organizer to coordinate with Brigham City officials and Box Elder County for traffic-calming devices at the start surge and to provide at least two possible dates in May so the town could check for conflicts with its August meeting schedule. The council asked that the organizer bring the finalized date(s) and any permit details back to the council for confirmation at a subsequent meeting.
No formal vote was recorded on a permit that night; council members instructed the organizer to follow up with Brigham City and return with proposed dates and additional safety plans.
