Students showcase 'Green Week' sustainability projects across Hopewell Valley schools

High school students reported a series of "eco lunch-and-learn" events, guest speakers from regional conservation organizations, a keynote address by climate and disability-justice advocate Daphne Frias, and student-created performances and projects. Advisors said photos and program highlights will appear in district publications and that Green Week programming is archived at a district web page (bit.ly/hpgreenweek).
The board acknowledged the student presentations and thanked the Climate Action Committee and school principals for supporting the districtwide effort. Committee members said they are considering pilot programs to reduce food waste and to explore on-site composting at district facilities.
The student presentations were followed by several public-comment speakers who linked Green Week themes to the district's broader sustainability and social-emotional learning work.
