Member Adams moved to table the canvassing policy entirely; that motion failed for lack of a second. The board then approved a motion to reconsider the policy after counsel has reviewed it and drafted any needed changes. The chair called the vote and recorded it as unanimous in favor of reconsideration.
The board did not adopt a new canvassing policy at the July 17 meeting. The executive session was used to discuss litigation that counsel said could influence the policy's legal conformity; no further details about the litigation were announced in open session.
