Council refers motion to install rules signage at key beaches and parks to Public Safety committee

Councilors described recurring summertime quality‑of‑life issues at the beaches and surrounding neighborhoods — loud music, public drinking, litter and fireworks — and said visible signage would strengthen the police department’s ability to enforce rules. Several councilors proposed working with Greater New Bedford Vocational Technical High School to fabricate signs as a work‑based learning project if funding or production delays are a barrier.
The motion was referred to the Committee on Public Safety and Neighborhoods for follow up and implementation planning.
