Clovis commission approves consent agenda items, renews participation with Eastern Plains Council of Governments

The Clovis City Commission on Tuesday approved a seven-item consent agenda and adopted a resolution to continue participation in the Eastern Plains Council of Governments (EPCOG), appointing a designee and alternate to the EPCOG board.
By unanimous vote the commission approved items on the consent agenda covering: a request to adopt Resolution No. 3329-2025 for Department of Finance Administration budget changes; a memorandum of understanding between the Clovis Police Department and Clovis Municipal Schools assigning a school resource officer and public safety aide to campuses; July 2025 lodgers tax disbursements; an annual legislative services agreement with Capital Consultants; the reappointment of Shelly Wynne to the Clovis-Carver Library Board; acceptance of a donated M90/M1A1 coastal artillery gun static display from VFW Post 3015; and year two of a three-year agreement with Clovis Economic Development for professional services.
Later in the meeting, Miss Sandy Chancy, executive director of the Eastern Plains Council of Governments, delivered an overview of EPCOG programs and funding activity. The commission approved Resolution No. 3328-2025 to continue participation in EPCOG programs for FY2025–FY1926 and appointed Commissioner Casaus as designee and Commissioner Zamora as alternate to serve on the EPCOG board. The motion for approval of the agreement and appointments was moved by Commissioner Garza and seconded by Mayor Pro Tem Bryant; the motion carried unanimously.
Votes recorded by acclamation showed unanimous support from the present members. Commissioner Jones was noted absent earlier in the meeting.
Other highlights from committee reports during the meeting included updates on civic center roof repairs and upcoming community events. The commission also announced a special meeting on July 29 and the next regular meeting on August 7.
