Council approves facade grant for 20 South Main Street building

The Brigham City Council approved a façade grant application for the building at 20 South Main Street, continuing a long-running local program that reimburses a portion of eligible façade improvements.
Paul Larson, economic development director, presented the project and the grant program history: the city launched the façade-grant program in 1992 and has issued 45 grants since then; grant funding to date has reimbursed roughly $384,000 and leveraged more than $1.3 million in private investment. Larson said the current owner will use historically informed materials and the project has input from the State Historic Preservation Office.
The proposed grant is a reimbursement grant (up to 50% of eligible work, capped by program limits); the applicant had not requested the program's full maximum award. The council voted to approve the application and authorized staff to proceed with the reimbursement process once receipts and eligible work were submitted.
Council members praised the program's track record of improving downtown building facades and attracting private investment.
