Clay County forms land conservation committee, elects leaders and outlines nomination process

Clay County’s newly formed Land Conservation Committee met for its first organizational session to elect leaders, review legal and procedural rules and discuss how properties will be nominated and evaluated for conservation.

The meeting focused on procedure rather than decisions about specific parcels: staff outlined a multi-stage pipeline for nominated properties — a public nomination period, an initial eligibility review, a priority pool for the committee, and final acquisition decisions by the Board of County Commissioners.
