Director: Mike Nagar splash pad needs significant repairs; city to consider in September CIP workshop

Director Russo told the commission that the splash pad at Mike Nagar Park requires significant structural repairs and that Public Works is obtaining cost and lead‑time estimates.
"The tank itself is broken, the tank is broken and two underground water lines are broken," Russo said. He said the public works department is evaluating repair approaches and that City Manager Erin Adams asked the item be included in the capital improvements program (CIP) workshop in September for council prioritization.
Russo also reported that the CRC splash pad has experienced short closures for warranty repairs related to the 'life floor' tiles and replacement of fixtures showing early rust. He said staff is working with the manufacturer to replace parts under warranty and that the CRC splash pad remains popular when open.
Commissioners and staff discussed public access: during public‑swim hours the CRC splash pad is accessible through the public swim program and fees apply; outside those hours the splash pad is generally free. Director Russo said staff will provide website links and updated hours to the public.
Public Works will return with estimates and timing for repairs and the council will review the splash pad work during the September CIP prioritization process.
