Council approves street vacation 198 for unused Wabash Avenue right-of-way

The Redlands City Council adopted Resolution No. 8709 to approve Street Vacation No. 198, vacating roughly 6,850 square feet of unimproved right-of-way on the west side of Wabash Avenue. Staff told the council the area is unimproved and not used for roadway purposes and identified three assessor parcel numbers associated with the subject right-of-way.
Finance and planning staff said the proposal is exempt from environmental review under section 15061(b)(3) of the California Environmental Quality Act guidelines (no possibility of significant environmental effect). The council received no additional public testimony on the item after a previously noted public speaker was no longer present in chambers.
The motion passed on roll call with recorded affirmative votes from Councilmember Barich, Councilmember Tejeda, Councilmember Davis, Mayor Pro Tem Shaw and Mayor Sacedo.
The council did not provide additional conditions on the vacation during the meeting; staff will proceed with the action as approved.
