Board approves consent agenda; superintendent reports near-complete staffing and falling kindergarten cohorts

The consent agenda items approved included designation of the local government investment pool and KeyBank as district depositories for 2025–26; naming the superintendent as chief administrative officer, district clerk and hearings officer; designating auditors and attorney of record; authorizing cooperative purchase agreements with other agencies; designating the business manager as deputy clerk, custodian of funds and budget officer; and designating the superintendent as signature authority on all state and federal grants for 2025–26. The board also authorized continuing the award for food products and nonfood supplies to Cisco for 2025–26 and accepted the retirement of Angie Yon, special education teacher at the junior high, contingent on placement in a post-retirement agreement.
Superintendent Terry reported that district staffing is "within 1" of being fully filled for the coming year and described a contingency plan if a Title teacher position could not be secured. Terry provided enrollment figures: 2,159 at the end of May (05/30) and 2,148 at the end of the most recent month. He said the district currently has 64 kindergarten students on the books and that the smaller kindergarten cohort was expected given recent birth-rate trends.
The consent agenda was approved by voice vote. Board members agreed to read the consent items in full to ensure new trustees understood the routine items and to allow any trustee to pull an item for separate discussion.
