Sweet Home board certifies election, swears in new members and elects officers

Well, it's 06:30 July 14, and I'll call the meeting to order, and we can start with the pledge of allegiance.

The Sweet Home School District board formally accepted the recent school election results, administered oaths of office to newly elected board members and elected officers during its July 14 organizational meeting.

The board voted to certify the May election results and then had the longest-serving member administer the oath of office to newly elected trustees. After the swearing-in the board held its annual officer elections. Floyd Neuschwander was elected board chair in a contested vote (4–3). Michael Adams was chosen as vice chair and Mary was confirmed as secretary by voice vote.

Board members moved to accept the election results before proceeding with the swearing-in. The board then completed the oath for the new members, with the presiding board member asking each to repeat the standard pledge to support the U.S. and state constitutions and to faithfully discharge the duties of the office. Following the oath, members nominated and voted on board officers. The chair vote required a roll-call-style count after competing nominations; the result was announced as 4–3 in favor of Neuschwander.

The board also amended and approved the meeting agenda early in the session so the swearing-in could occur before other organizational business. That agenda change and the certification of election results were approved by voice vote.

The organizational actions completed at the meeting set officer roles and confirmed the district's leadership for the coming year. No changes to the board's standing committees were finalized at the meeting.
