Referendum construction at McLean and Greentree on schedule and within budget, district reports

Tim Harder, director of facilities and technology for West Bend Joint School District No. 1, told the board the two referendum-funded construction projects at McLean Elementary and Greentree Elementary are on schedule and within budget.
At McLean Elementary, Harder said major demolition and site preparation are complete (window removal excepted), a second elevator tagged for removal has been taken out and the space prepared for plumbing and concrete work, and plumbing rough-ins for remodeled bathrooms are near completion with concrete pours expected within days. He said electrical conduit for power, fire alarm and security systems is being installed and that secure-entry work is underway creating new office and nurse areas.
At Greentree Elementary, Harder said demolition is complete except for windows and doors, plumbing is about a week ahead of McLean, rough inspections have passed, concrete has been poured, and crews are installing wall plumbing fixtures as bathrooms are reframed for ADA compliance. He said the building will receive a generator and work is underway to determine which circuits will be placed on that generator for life-safety purposes.
Harder noted the projects have uncovered expected conditions (for example, mortar-bed deterioration and a steel column location) and that Findorff, the general contractor, has built contingencies into the guaranteed maximum price to allow solutions within budget. He said the district is staging window replacements and will prioritize windows to be replaced first when materials arrive.
Board members asked scheduling and budget questions; Harder said he met with Findorff and Derek from Findorff that day and described progress as encouraging. The presentation closed without formal action.
