Caroline County Board of Elections approves minutes, votes to close meeting for personnel matters and adjourns

The Caroline County Board of Elections approved the minutes of its June 20 meeting and accepted the agenda as presented before hearing an election director’s report.
Later the board voted to close the meeting under the Open Meetings Act, citing "General provisioned article 3 3 0 5 b 1" to allow discussion of the appointment, employment, assignment, promotion, discipline, demotion, compensation, removal, resignation and performance evaluation of appointees, employees or officials. Board member Dana made the motion to close the meeting and Angel seconded. Members present voted "aye" and the board moved into closed session.
After the closed-session motion, the board called for a motion to adjourn the open meeting. A motion and second were made and the board voted to adjourn.
Separately, the board’s attorney reported there will be a state board conference call with local attorneys on July 29 but said he did not plan to participate because staff handle the topic and he had a scheduling conflict. The attorney also offered farewell remarks about longtime staff member Miss Bridal. The meeting included recognition of retiring employee Debbie Brohan.
