Council introduces ordinance to end subdivision streetlight assessments and shift to citywide assessment

Law Director (introduced as) Madam Wall explained the ordinance modifies the assessment period in four previously established streetlight districts—Sterling Green, Greenway (established 2002) and two districts created in 2023 for Summerbrook South and Edenbridge—so their individual assessments will end with the 2024 tax year and those properties will be included in the citywide assessment beginning tax year 2025 (collected in 2026).
The item was introduced for consideration and councilman Reynolds moved the introduction. No final action was taken; the item was presented as an introduction and staff answered clarifying questions.
