Board tables Extra Space Storage redevelopment at 550 Road pending Erie County advisory review

Garrett Steiner, project engineer with Boulder Engineering, told the board the project would replace the existing building with a roughly 31,000-square-foot, two-story climate-controlled storage building with a footprint of about 15,300 square feet. "The project will disturb approximately 0.4 acres of land," Steiner said, adding the proposal would not increase overall impervious surface and that roof leaders and stormwater would tie into existing on-site catch basins.
Steiner said the applicant submitted an area variance application to the zoning board because the proposed building height is within 230 feet of the airport. "The overall building is 23 feet 7 inches and then the parapet at the front of the building" reaches about 29 feet 4 inches, he said.
Staff recommended tabling the project to allow the matter to go through the town's referral review process to Erie County agencies, including environmental planning, highway, the NFTA, the local school district and the Clayfield Fire District. A board member moved to table and the motion carried by voice vote.
