Butler County commissioners approve routine plats, contracts, personnel actions and grant acceptances

Butler County commissioners on Tuesday approved a series of routine resolutions and votes including land dedications, a final plat, purchase orders and requisitions, contract renewals, personnel changes and the acceptance of a federal community corrections grant.

- Hamilton'Middletown Road right-of-way dedication (Liberty Township): The commission approved dedication of 0.8967 acres of right-of-way associated with a commercial project near Hamilton'Middletown Road; the planning commission had approved the dedication on April 8. - Community Development / Commissioners'administered resolutions: Approved execution of HOME Investment Partnership Program close-out documents for program years 2016'2018 and a change order No. 1 to Queen City Mechanicals Inc. increasing the contract by $48,650 (new total $163,200) for fire-hydrant replacement work in the Village of Seven Mile; the change order was described as due to previously undocumented valve conditions discovered during work. Commissioners also approved submitting the 2026 Butler County tax budget to the County Budget Commission and authorized a $807,575 general-fund contribution to Job and Family Services (to be transferred monthly by the county auditor as stated in the resolution). - Personnel and human resources: Approved multiple personnel items across departments as listed in the packet, including hires and resignations in Children's Services (two rescinded offers, one resignation retroactive to July 3, and one new hire effective July 14), Job & Family Services temporary reassignment and rate increase for an employee (effective July 12 through Oct. 17), and Water & Sewer hire (replacement for a retirement). Vote: Carpenter yes; Rogers yes; Dixon yes. Outcome: approved.

- Office holders & agencies: Accepted and authorized execution of the 2025 Butler County Court of Common Pleas Community Corrections Grant award in the amount of $4,826,336 with no match required to support community-based corrections programs and reduce recidivism (approval was described as necessary to continue funding and follow consultant recommendations). Also approved multiple training expenses for sheriff'office personnel and an environmental-clearance contract with EMH&T not to exceed $31,500 for engineering services. Vote: Carpenter yes; Rogers yes; Dixon yes. Outcome: approved.

- Adjournment: Motion to adjourn passed with Carpenter, Rogers and Dixon voting yes.
