Parks committee approves new Park Theater rates, cleaning contract and December performance with Daley and Vincent

The McMinnville Parks and Recreation Committee approved updated rental rates for the Park Theater, authorized continuing cleaning services with The Clean Machine, and recommended the city enter a performance contract with Daley and Vincent for a Dec. 16 concert.

Ashley Wright, who presented the proposals, said the rental-rate schedule had not been updated in five years and that staff benchmarked comparable venues to set modest increases and expand hourly windows to make rentals easier for users. The committee added a lower-fee category for small events of 20 people or fewer to accommodate private gatherings such as birthday or retirement parties. A motion to adopt the new rates passed by voice vote.

The committee next reviewed continuing The Clean Machine as the theater’s cleaning contractor. Staff said The Clean Machine began service late last year after the prior cleaner stopped operating and offered both full-venue cleans and an a la carte list for smaller in-between tasks. Committee members praised the contractor’s flexibility and responsiveness. Members voted to approve continuing the contract.

Finally, Wright described a proposed performance contract with the act billed as Daley and Vincent, whose prior March 1, 2024 engagement at the theater had sold out. The proposed show, a mix of Christmas songs and other material, is scheduled for Dec. 16. Committee members discussed the date (a Tuesday during the holidays) but said the group had previously drawn strong local crowds and recommended the city proceed with the performance contract. The committee passed the recommendation by voice vote.

Staff and committee members noted additional upcoming theater events and encouraged the public to consult the theater’s schedule online for more information. The committee asked staff to finalize contracts and coordinate scheduling and logistics.
