A district mental-health official told trustees that completed youth suicides have increased since the pandemic and that the district is already providing suicide awareness and social‑emotional learning, but the policy formalizes procedures and compliance.
Governance training and calendar: Trustees agreed to a full‑day governance training on Aug. 15 at TSBA in Nashville; staff will poll trustees on start/end time. Staff also briefed the board on a revised policy calendar and described an RFI process for governance consultants to support destination/strategic planning after the end of the district’s Destination 2025 plan.
Next steps: Staff will bring finalized policy drafts to the board for review and asked trustees whether to use a resolution to handle strategic allocations in the short term while a policy is developed. Staff also said they would align per‑diem and travel allowances to GSA rates if the board approves.
