Belmont schedules National Night Out celebration for Aug. 5 with library as city site

Belmont's Police Chief Ken Stenquist told the City Council on July 8 that National Night Out will take place on Aug. 5, 2025, with the city sponsoring a site at the San Mateo County Library and multiple neighborhood events across Belmont.
"We can't do this without our other partners within the city, the public works, parks, all entities, community, even our beloved friends from San Mateo Consolidated Fire," Stenquist said. He said the library will be more involved this year and the city expects to host between eight and ten neighborhood sites, with the city-sponsored site at the library.
Stenquist said partner organizations including Recology, Rethink Waste and Midpeninsula will staff the library site and provide community outreach. He encouraged neighborhood groups to register via the city clerk's office (cclerk@belmont.gov) and said registrations remain open; the city is still finalizing and securing some sites. Stenquist mentioned typical attractions such as fire trucks, police motorcycles and giveaways.
Council members and staff noted the event's value for connecting residents to city departments and neighborhood groups. No formal action was required; the presentation was informational and staff will return with additional details as planning continues.
