Harrisonburg City Council on July 8 approved a special-use permit to allow a single food truck to operate at 201 South Avenue, a roughly 5,700-square-foot parcel at the corner of South High Street and South Avenue, with several site-improvement conditions attached.
City Director of Community Development Adam Fletcher told council the property is zoned M-1 and staff had first become aware this spring when a mobile food truck began operating without required permits and had constructed a platform without proper building permits. Fletcher said staff and the applicant have worked to bring the site into compliance and that the special-use permit is the route the owner chose rather than a rezoning.
